What are people talking about today ? Well it’s got to be X Factor hasn’t it ? That’s what my children are banging on about. In fact it may be the first time that they have experienced a deep sense of injustice on behalf of anyone other than themselves.
Let’s look at the facts. Lucie Jones, a sweet, pretty and talented singer has been thrown off the show in favour of the Twingo twins, chaos in a basket, John and Edward. For weeks the children have been listening to Simon Cowell calling the pallid pair talentless, threatening to leave the country and even accusing them of undermining the competition. Now he decides they can stay. Is it a volte face if you have so many faces you don’t know which one you have put on today ?
I would suggest that credibility comes from being consistent and Cowell has blown his by talking which ever way the pounds flutter. My ten year old doesn’t trust him so maybe we have all learned a valuable lesson. But poor old Lucie eh ? She was going to be, in the words of the lovely Cheryl Cole ‘ a little Avril Levigne’. Let’s hope we all still remember her when she is finally free to sing again.
